3 days of Family Camp over.
We all had a really good time for most of the days. Friday afternoon was ruined for me by not getting the dean job, but otherwise it was fun.
This year's group included us, the Calendines, the Howsers, the Paulsons, and Grandpa Ed and his grandson. We also had 2 other packs (each with one dad and one son) join us at the Deer Creek site. All in all a good group of people. Next year will be interesting since the only non-Webelo was Marc. All the other boys, except the aforementioned grandson, were 2nd year Webelos and will not be going to Family Camp next year.
I was very proud of the way both boys handled themselves this year. No major meltdowns from either one. Noah was able to earn three of his activity badges, Aquanaut, Forrester, and Showman. He only needs 1 more to earn his Arrow of Light, but even if he does, we will keep him in until the end of 5th grade so he can earn the other badges. He is close to earning 7 more of them! There are a total of 20 and we would like him to get all of them because there is a special award for getting them all. Just like Pokemon!
Marc had a great time and worked on many of his belt loops and other requirements. He is really having fun with scouts as well.
Both boys conquered the Sierra climbing wall. Noah had the hardest time, but with much encouragement from everyone in the group and the counselors, on his 5th climb he made it all the way to the top.
Malia also conquered one of the taller walls. She was shaky at the end, but we were all very proud of her.
I helped Shane and Jeff finish up the changing rooms at the lake. It took us 2 days to complete them, but they look really nice, and hopefully they will be useful for many years to come.
I got us packed, loaded and ready to go in about an hour, so we were able to leave by 10. Home by 12:45 and resting by 1:00.
Malia is out now getting the stuff for leg two of the camping trip. Tomorrow morning we head for Custer, SD!
